Lesson 2: “Happy meal”
The Objectives:
- to drill the lexical material on topics “Meals”, “Drinks”;
- to master the use of “have/has”-phrases;
- to learn short answers;
- to master pupils’ listening comprehension, writing and reading skills;
- to broaden pupils’ outlook.
Teacher’s Aids: DVD recorder, DVD, flash-cards, posters, blackboard.
- Phonetic warm-up:
The teacher greets the pupils and organizes the class for the work. He/she announces the topic of the lesson. For the phonetic warm-up the teacher presents the song “One banana, two bananas” (sound [?]). Then follows choral and individual repetition:
- Lexical warm-up:
The teacher distributes the cards with the unfinished drawing. He/she draws and names the food that he or she has on the plate.
T: I’ve got a milkshake and a pizza!
P 1: I’ve got chicken and fries!
3. Listening and Presentation:
The teacher runs the DVD (DVD “FF 2). He/she asks the pupils to repeat the new phrases. After and listening the teacher shows the poster “Let’s learn!” Pupils put down the rule into their copybooks and drill it. ADDITION
Activity 1,2 (grammar book)
- Writing:
Pupils complete some exercises to revise the rule about “have/has got” -phrases and short answers. (Pupils book p.29) The teacher gives some extra card to complete. ADDITIONS
- Game:
The teacher pins up two puzzles on the board and asks the pupils to divide into two teams. The team which completes the task quicker wins the game. ADDITION
- Speaking:
The teacher pins up the white poster and gives out the colouring markers. Pupils one-by-one come to the blackboard and slowly draw a picture of some food. The one who guesses wht food is it goes to the board .
P1: Is it a pizza?
P2: Yes, it is!
- Hometask setting:
– to revise new word p. 28;
– to learn the rule;
– to complete Ex. 1,2 p. 29 (work book)
- Summary of the lesson:
a) revision of what was learned during the lesson;
b) evaluation.
