Lesson 3
Subject: My lunch box
Objectives:
Practical: to develop pupils’ reading, listening and speaking skills;
to practice grammar structures I like…, I’ve got…; to use the lexical units on topic ‘Food’;
Educational: to get pupils involved in speaking about their favourite food;
to motivate pupils to study and understand English language;
Developing: to enrich pupils’ knowledge on the topical issues.
Equipment: cards with task, pictures of food, posters of food, DVD, tape ercorder with a cassette from Get-Set-Go-1, a ball, coloured pencils

Procedure

  1. Organizing a lesson. Greetings.

The teacher greets the pupils and organizes the class for the work. The pupils say a poem-greeting.
Pupils: Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you.
Good morning, good morning
We are glad to see you.

  1. Lexical warm-up

Teacher (has a bag):Look, I’ve got a bag. I like food and I like picnics. Today we’re going on the picnic and I prepare some food for us. Who can guess what I have?
The pupils try to guess pictures of which food are inside the bag. They ask questions like: Is this …?
Pupil 1: Is this a sandwich?
Teacher (shows a picture from the bag): Yes, it is.
Pupil 2: Is this an egg?
Teacher: No, it isn’t.
Teacher: Now we all know whai I take for a picnic. Come here to me and say if you like the food I prepaerd.
The pupils stand in a circle. They throw a ball to each other and the pupil with a ball has to say what he/she likes. For example, I like an ice cream.

  1. Phonetic warm – up

Teacher: And do you remember our song about food? Let’s sing it.
The pupils sing the song they learnt at the previous lesson. It is from Get-Set-Go-1.
Teacher(shows a picture of a cherry): Look at this cherry. It’s red and nice. Let’s say – cherry, cherry. And what other words do you know with the sound persented by ch? Listen and say them.
The pupils look at the pictures with words, listen to DVD (track 92, Family and Friends – 1)

  1. Listening

Teacher: As you ermember we are going on a picnic. But these children are going there too. Open your books on p. 64. The children have three boxes. You have to listen and match the box and the child.
The pupils listen to DVD and match the pictures (track 94, Family and Friends–1). Then the teacher checks if they are right. The teacher shows a hero and the pupils say the letter of the box.

  1. Drawing and Speaking

Teacher: When we are going on a picnic we need to take some plates for our food. I prepared them for you.  But they are empty. Your task is to draw your favourite food there and then present it to us.
The pupils draw pictures on the cards and then in turn present them. They use the example: I’ve got two sandwiches. I haven’t got a banana. I’ve got water. I like cheese.(Addition 1)

  1. Physical warm-up

Teacher: We had so much to do and now it’s time to have a little rest. Let’s remember our Teddy.
The pupils say the poem Teddy-bear with movements.
Teddy-bear, teddy-bear
Turn around.
Teddy-bear, teddy-bear
Touch the ground
Teddy-bear, teddy-bear
Hands to light
Teddy-bear, teddy-bear
Say: Good night.

  1. Writiug

Teacher: So, we have a lot of food for our picnic.let’s check. In your books (p. 62) you have to find and write the correct words.
The pupils try to solve a puzzle in their books (Addition 2).

  1. Listening and singing

Teacher: Now we are ready for a picnic, so let’s learn a song about it.
The pupils learn and sing a song “Open my lunch box” (from Family and Friends – 1).
