Lesson 3: “Food. My lunch box.”                               

The Objectives:

  1. to revise the lexical material on topics “Meals”, “Drinks”;
  2. to learn how to describe one’s lunch box;
  3. to learn master the use of “have/has”-phrases;
  4. to master pupils’ listening comprehension, writing and reading skills;
  5. to broaden pupils’ outlook.

Teacher’s Aids:costumes, bananas, flash-cards, posters, blackboard.

 

The Course of the Lesson:

1. PHONETIC WARM-UP:

The teacher greets the pupils and asks them about their weekend. He/she announces the topic of the lesson. For the phonetic warm-up the teacher presents the sound [t?] through the poem (choral and individual repetition) Addition 1:

Chips and chicken, chocolate and cheese.

Chocolate and cheese, chicken and chips.

2. Lexical warm-up:

Pupils fill in the missing words and translate them. Addition 2

3. Presentation & LISTENING:

The main body of the lesson starts at the shop. A little boy wants to buy some food to make a pizza. But it’s late and there isn’t much food left…

  1. pre-listening: The teacher asks the pupils to describe what food is on sale.
  1. while-listening: Pupils listen to the scene acted between the shopkeeper and the boy.

 

  1. post-listening: after listening pupils describe their favorite pizzas.

3. ReADING COMPREHENSION:

  1. pre-reading: The teacher present the new words from the text. Addition 3

  1. while- reading: Pupils read the text and translate it.

 

  1. post- reading: pupils tick the boxes with the food they’ve got.

4. WRITING:

Pupils complete exercises to revise the “have/has” phrases

5. LET’S SING:

Pupils listen to the song and then try to sing all together and in pairs:

6. SPEAKING:

Pupils draw and tell what they have got in their lunch boxes. Addition 6

P1: I’ve got a pear, a sandwich and a milkshake!

P2: I’ve got a sandwich and some juice!

7. Hometask setting:

– to learn the new word;

– to learn the song “Open my lunch box!”

– Project “My pizza” (to draw and write what’s on my favorite pizza). Addition 7

8. SUMMARY OF THE LESSON:
a) revision of what was learned during the lesson;

b) evaluation.
