Lesson 4
Subject: My favoutite food
Objectives:
Practical: to develop speaking and listening skills; to practice grammar structures learnt by pupils; to consolidate the usage of  vocabulary on topic Food;
Educational: to develop a creative way of thinking;
to increase pupil’s active involvement in class activity;
Developing: to encourage pupils to be careful about food; to encourage pupils to learn English.
Equipment: a poster of food, cards with tasks, flashcards of food, cards with menu, DVD, computer, a ball.
Procedure
I.         Organizing a lesson. Greetings.
The teacher greets the pupils and organizes the class for the work. The pupils say a poem-greeting.
Pupils:Hello, hello. How are you?
Hello, hello. I’m fine, thank you.

  1. Phonetic warm-up

Teacher: Look around, we have a lot of delicious food. We all like it. Let’s sing a song about our favourite food.
The pupilssinf a song paying attention to the pronunciation of sound [ai] (Song from Get-Set-Go-1)

I like milk
I like cheese.
I like ice cfream.
Ice cream, please!

I like oranges.
I like cheese.
But I don’t like eggs.
No eggs, please!

Teacher:We all like singing. But what about our food? Let’s look at it and ervise. But be careful with pronunciation.
The pupils look,  listen and chant (track 115, Family and Friends – 1)

  1. Lexical warm-up

Teacher: As we talk about our favourite food, please come here and say about it.
The pupils make up a circle.The boy in a circle throws a ball to other pupil. That pupil goes into circle and has to say something about his favourite food without naming it. The person who guesses the name of food receives a ball.
For example: I like it. It’s yellow. It’s a fruit.

  1. Speaking

Teacher: We all like different food. But do you know which food your friends like? Let’s check it. Now, you have some minutes to ask your friends and then you’ll tell us.
The pupils work in pairs asking each other the questions: Do you like…?
Then they say to the rest of the class about their partnter paying attention to the ending -s. For example, Taras likes bananas. He likes milk (Addition 1).

  1. Listening

Teacher: Now you are going to listen story about favourite food of one little girl. Your task is listen and draw a correct face.
The pupils look,  listen and draw (track 122, Family and Friends – 1)

  1. Physical warm-up.

Teacher: We are tired and need some rest. Let’s do exercises.
The pupils say the poem with movements.
One, one, one – little dogs run
Two, two, two – cats see you.
Three, three, three – birds in the tree.
Four, four, four – rats on the floor.

  1. Listening.

Teacher: Where can we eat delicious food? In the caf?. Our friends Sally and Emma went there. They have menu. Listen what they want to buy and put a tick.
The pupils do exercise with the help of CD (track 121, Family and Friends – 1)

  1. Speaking

Teacher: And now imagine that you are going into the caf?. Take a menu and try to order some food.
At first the pupils read a short dialogue which is on the blackboard and then looking into the card and with the help of  promts make up their own dialogues. They present them to the rest of the class.
– Mmm, I love milk.
– Let’s have some milk. Do you like apples?
– Yes, please. Do you like some bread?
– No, thanks. Let’s have some ice cream.
– Mmm, I love ice-cream.
